Hamuro Muneyuki (葉室宗行)

Muneyuki HAMURO (1174 – 1221) was a Court noble in the Kamakura period. His original surname was FUJIWARA. He was a son of Gon Chunagon (Provisional vice-councilor of state), FUJIWARA no Yukitaka.

Career

He became Sangi (councilor) Kurodo no to (Head Chamberlain).

In 1218, he was ordained Shosanmi (Senior Third Rank) and Gon Chunagon.

In the Jokyu war in 1221, he tried to search out and destroy Yoshitoki HOJO, with Emperor Gotoba, but failed, and he was killed in Suruga Province while being escorted to Kamakura.

In December, 1927, more than 700 years after his death, he was given Junii (Junior Second Rank).
